Latest Updates from Our Project:

Preview: Chapters 1-5
11 months ago – Tue, May 13, 2025 at 11:55:08 AM

Hey, folks! Thanks so much for your patience. I actually have something substantial to share with you today.

Click here for the preview PDF of chapters 1-5.

These chapters represent the Hex Crawl proper. There's still a few things we need to fix here, but I didn't want to wait until it was perfect to send out the preview. Aside form a few typographical things and typos, these are some of the known errors:

  • God shard table isn't in there.
  • Some passages reference scanning a QR code for tables. All tables will be in the book. This is old wording.

If you notice anything else major, please let us know.

Brad is currently working on laying out the Settlement Generator chapter, which has about one billion tables, but he's making good progress! That'll likely be what you see next. After that, we have all the creature stat blocks to deal with. They're all filled in on the layout, which is a BIG part of it, but they still need arranged and pretty-fied. There's a few other odds and ends after that, but those are the last big hurdles.

Oh, and you can click here to see the tracking board. Every copy will come with this for keeping track of time and weather.

Again, thanks for your patience, folks. We're estimating this book is going to end up being 275+ pages! I'll keep y'all posted as it goes.

Shorty

Hey, folks! Someone requested an update. Sorry, I've been on the verge of one for like two weeks now.

Long story short, we're really close to sending out the first preview PDF. It's just going through a editing pass to make sure we didn't do anything dumb when transferring info from the working document to the actual document. It'll include the four hex crawl adventures, the intro, and the map. We're currently laying out the monster section and then the settlement generator. We'll send updated preview PDFs as we complete each section.

So this is all to say I'll be in touch soon with actual stuff to show!

about 1 year ago – Mon, Mar 17, 2025 at 11:28:18 AM

Hey, folks! I sent the backer surveys out to everyone today. Please fill them out when you get a sec!

More importantly, I have a little preview for you. This is a rough draft - there's proofing and tweaking to be done a plenty, words to be nudged, etc. Disclaimer said, let's check out some pig-faced War Orcs!

You can find it here.

Talk soon,

Smoke test.
about 1 year ago – Thu, Mar 13, 2025 at 11:21:34 AM

Hey, folks! As the layout progresses, we've decided it's a good time to launch the pledge manager. We've sent out a smoke test to make sure everything is working right. That basically means that we've sent the surveys out to a small group of backers to make sure the internet doesn't explode as they fill them out. Once I get enough of those back, I'll be sending out the surveys to everyone else.

So if you are one of the few folks who DID get a survey, please do me a favor and fill it out so we can make sure everything is working!

Thanks, y'all! Previews will be coming soon.

2/20 Update
about 1 year ago – Thu, Feb 20, 2025 at 08:27:46 AM

Just like last update, still shoveling much snow...

The book is moving forward! Parts are in editing and other parts are in layout. The dungeon generator and settlement generator have been hella fun. We have some paper samples coming from one of the manufacturers so we can figure out the best way to track the doom cloud. Things are going well!

One thing I've realized is that after weeks of weekly playtests, we've hardly scratched the surface of the adventure. Honestly, I feel like I could run this for pretty close to a year. That's the upside of the wait - there's a LOT of cool material.

I'll share some spreads in an upcoming update. Talk to you all soon!
